maparus
I just bought a NEC ND 3550A DVD burner. I've read about flashing the burner and I am just as confused now as I was before I read the first article. Can someone tell me why I need to flash and which filmware I need to use and how to do it in Newbie language I can understand. daniewicz
You do not need to flash the burner to a more recent version of the firmware unless you want to. The newer firmware may allow the use of newer media (disc) types. The newer firmware may also offer some bug fixes too. But your burner will likely work just fine without flashing it. daniewicz
Well if youhave decided that you want ot go ahead with the flash, then pick the most recent one: 106_orig.zip NEC 3550 1.06 I would feel more comfortable getting the firmware from NEC directly: http://support.necsam.com/Optical/downloads/FlashFirmware/ Edited June 29, 2006 by daniewicz
scarecrow
I have successfully flashed 3550A to 4551A. It's working just great. I think the flasher has been removed (on NEC's request)- or at least I cannot spot it anymore at CDFreaks forum, and since I do not want to post questionable links here, PM me- I am pretty confident I've kept the flasher, as well as a fairly current RPC-1 firmware.
