ravage
My Freespace installer has been updated. Preferences and Pilot data are now stored in ~/.freespace/ and it will now default to fullscreen mode. Freespace 2 has been updated also. Guest JaseP
Acolades to you Ravage!!! Good work!!! I'm so psyched to finally have FreeSpace 1&2 for Linux... One more reason to be booting in Windoze has been removed. NWN will be one of the final obsticles... And THAT wait is nearly over. By the way,... ever think of doing a NWN file installer from the CDs???

ravage
I won't know if it's possible until I buy Neverwinter Nights, which won't be until after they release the client.
DOlson
Okay, during install, I get this error: Installing FreeSpace: The Great War Verifying archive integrity... All good. Uncompressing Freespace: The Great War for Linux............................................................. ERROR: No matching delta for /usr/local/games/freespace/root.vp Ok, even though it says it completed successfully... Then: dana@digory:~$ freespace Installing default /home/dana/.freespace/FreeSpace.ini Error: (src/gamesnd/eventmusic.cpp:1061): Unable to parse music.tbl! Code = 5. Segmentation fault Yippie. ravage
does this md5sum match root.vp on your cd? a12621b5e8fbfca2b88e983fb5a79a90 *./root.vp edit: n/m, I just looked at the buffer in irc. I'll just add root.vp to the installer since it's a small file.
Guest JaseP
I got no errors installing using the FreeSpace 2 installer. What I DO get are periodic crashes in the game as well as pauses and hiccups... Similar to the effect I got with FreeSpace 1... I guess this is just the state of the port,... or is there something I'm missing???

ravage
I guess this is just the state of the port,... or is there something I'm missing??? No idea. We shall see what happens when Freespace 2 hits release status :) So, does this mean that my FreeSpace CDs are out of date or something strange? Maybe you have a different region CD? My CD is the USA version. What does it say on the bottom of your box?

My CD is the USA version. What does it say on the bottom of your box? Box? I got mine in a jewel case for like $10. Heh. Here's the md5sums from the CD itself, if you wanna just compare them. I deleted the directory entries, as they are just errors. dana@digory:/mnt/cdrom$ md5sum * 835109b66b648b59f6c6ae4559104626 Autorun.inf 718152f3e97a7f51165ad6209c13f1f2 DATA.TAG febf1740b72edc719ff64328d15c90c6 FRED.exe 649245e71c63242286df78c21f9800c3 FS.ex_ 7a7ad2cee52ec1cb755b55b101c877d3 FSuninst.dll 4e8cac513233f25a999db5373efca0b5 Fred.hlp 1d54bba681674d2cf96f2d1a7d887c77 Fred.rtf d7a10fb18c393dfd0d18f1a389f58e50 FreeSpace.ex_ 3ff56e95144cb3cb959424855fb71279 FreeSpaceAutoRun.exe 0c7ac638fc55ba6d9175c486bc99a1a5 FreeSpaceAutoRun.ico 4a47de5b26e869c5a02156ff77bf2042 PROMO.EXE 740bf29c3f041f84195766be5eec1cce SETUP.INI 1e013f8d89f59ce39c7fa9bc8bd3a166 Setup.exe e69e71765d982275679ea0cba6dd332c _INST32I.EX_ 51161bf79f25ff278912005078ad93d5 _ISDel.exe ecacc9ab09d7e8898799fe5c4ebbbdd2 _Setup.dll 06568ed1dc745258c4fe249a8845af25 _sys1.cab 61e25ddd607a0bba76d79ce92ab36782 _sys1.hdr 6783e2e030b303350d1c6c8897fddcba _user1.cab e3df2ee5750223db17a6528da56554f7 _user1.hdr 43364c6b5ae4cc5c29e67e44c3fc35a0 data1.cab 788802f14880c7d71b046bb9770eed56 data1.hdr cccaae5c8a23eae65df80531a235f6e8 lang.dat d63f85aad4ed2febe627139830bc78dd layout.bin 478f65a0b922b6ba0a6ce99e1d15c336 os.dat df656e62fde2365c531cf5dc8197491f patchw32.dll cf974a25c2ba4cb5381fca9eb67b56e3 readme.txt e391341c0158bce10cde8c539fd16c9a refcard.rtf 740321f1dfebf2f0fc6d791fdb26c440 root.vp 083e150f6786ff83800a1ed2a17f556b setup.bmp 2a117153b4a2525261f441e59feb93b4 setup.ins 1b79748e93a541cc1590505b6c72828a setup.lid
Guest JaseP
The installer doesn't support the GOTY edition of FreeSpace 2, or any of the non-english versions (which I sould assume means the North American release). I assume the data files are just a little bit off...

Well, I bought it off the shelf at EB. It was in a two-pack with Silent Threat. I'll try running that on a Windows computer and report back what it does.
