reconfigured
hello, when scanning with klamAV, what is the significance of under the heading in klamAV "name of virus found" it lists 5 files as: Zip.exceededFilesLimit and the "status" for each as Loose. it asks to quarantine these files. thanks [moved from Software by spinynorman]
scarecrow
Not a virus specialist, but the description seems to report that the zipfile couldn't be scanned inside properly, due to a large number of included files, and not that a real virus string was spotted. jagwah
Under the Scan tab, select the 'options' button on the far right, there you will find options that deal with scanning archives. One of them is 'Mark as virus if limits exceeded'. You will also find settings to change the limits etc. [edit] AVG have just released a Linux version of their Virus scanner. I have been using the windows version for long time now, and always found it to be very good, trouble free. I was glad to see the Linux version released, downloaded it straight away, install was a breeze, and works fine, not as many options as the windows version, but that may come in time. So if your interested in giving it a whirl, this is where you can get it, http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5 Direct download link http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup...vi0720.i386.rpm Edited May 21, 2006 by jagwah

scarecrow
Avast! and F-Prot have issued free linux scanners as well... both have a fine name under windoze. The best AV scanner for Linux is no scanner at all, unless you share files with local windoze machines.
reconfigured
The best AV scanner for Linux is no scanner at all, and the best for windows is the one you keep updated
