ilia_kr
I often use a shared folder on xp box. Usually it is done through nautilus->network->XPbox->.... The question is how this connection occures - does nautilus mount the remote folder or simply browse it? Is it better to mount the remote folder on local mashine and than access it? Thanks. scarecrow
AFAIK it does not mount it. Mounting it does some things easier (and a bit faster), but requires samba running as a daemon (while browsing a remote windows folder thru Nautilus or Konqi via the desktop VFS does not require samba running). Under KDE I (sometimes) use smb4k to automount remote samba shares, while under Gnome I think you have to use "Network Neighborhood" or something similar.
