Kicker colour

According to the documentation there should be a tab ¨appearance¨ in the ¨configure panel¨ menu but I only have arrangement, hiding, menus and taskbar. How do I change the colour, the default grey is getting pretty boring...

I have kde 3.51 installed from mandriva cooker...

Right click on kicker, select "configure panel" and there should be an advanced settings thing at the bottom. From there you can change it to any colour, add a background picture or make it transparent.

This is weird. Did they rip anything away? Wait, I will boot my Debian now, where I have a KDE 3.5.2 environment. brb.

Edit: .. they ripped it off! :o By default, there should be five entries. They ripped off the "appearance" entry where you set the transparency stuff.

*shrugs* A good question, as I have no clue, which parts of the packages they ripped off exactly. Check if they have perhaps hidden this option anywhere in "configure my desktop". If it ain't there, you should ask politely at the official mandriva/cooker irc channels and, if needed, submit a bug. Just my opinion, though.

i´ll give mde a try, just hope I figure out how to change their K-menu button, it´s even uglier than Mandriva´s

Just hope this´ll go smoothly, yesterday I installed nVidia´s latest drivers and I see a lot happening with xorg and video drivers, keeping my fingers crossed....

You mean this:

p.png

Update to KDE 3.5.2 :)

Or edit the kickerrc:

Under [general] add this line: BackgroundTheme=/usr/share/apps/kicker/wallpapers/default.png (or edit it to reflect your preferences)

Restart kicker with: dcop kicker Panel restart
