I'm using gnome, and i can't find any program in a menu that does this. According to gnome's help there is a tool in Applications->System Tools but i didn't fint a thing... rt-click>properties>open with I've done it several times, still .avi are opened in xine instead in totem as chose before... ianw1974
Maybe there are options in totem to configure it to open all it's own file types by default. I know the place in KDE to use it, unfortunately I don't use gnome. Maybe the gconfeditor might be what you need to use, but I'm unsure
arctic
"right click, properties, open with" is correct and should work. Did you double-click on the app you want to use as default? If not, that explains your "problem". :)
ilia_kr
I've removed xine and reinstalled totem-xine, so now everything works. In addition, just now i've noticed that in a file properties it is possible to select the defoult program to open by clicking on its radio button... :D
