mime types and programs setup [solved]

Recommended Posts

What desktop are you using? KDE? Gnome? It's normally a setting in here.

I'm using gnome, and i can't find any program in a menu that does this. According to gnome's help there is a tool in Applications->System Tools but i didn't fint a thing...

rt-click>properties>open with

I've done it several times, still .avi are opened in xine instead in totem as chose before...

Maybe there are options in totem to configure it to open all it's own file types by default.

I know the place in KDE to use it, unfortunately I don't use gnome. Maybe the gconfeditor might be what you need to use, but I'm unsure

"right click, properties, open with" is correct and should work. Did you double-click on the app you want to use as default? If not, that explains your "problem". :)
