sofasurfer
I want to do a 2 hr download using urpmi. Don't want phone line tied up longer than nessessary. I'm going to bed while it downloads. I want the modem to disconnect after the download is finished in case someone needs to call me. I'm using wget as a download manager. I didn't recognize anything in the --help menu.
Ixthusdan
Does the dialer have any control features?
Pwnious
So you want to cut off the phone line when it finishes. Somehow I think its possible and I am really interested in this.

Yes, in winblows it always cut off after so many minutes of inactivity. I have access to KPPP>configure and MCC>configure but I see nothing that I recognize as a modem disconnect. I see a modem time out but I think thats for waiting for a connection.
krisbee2000
Here's a program for you: Dialer Program for Linux This will disconnect you like you want. Like anything, there are 100 programs in linux that all do the same thing.. just do a google search like I did for you. --Kris
grendal
Move out to the country. My modem cuts off sometime after I go to bed, probally because of my crappie phone line!! So when I'm using urpmi to download something and going to bed, it's a gamble on whether or not I will actually get what I want!! So I too am interested in this dialer program for Linux to see if it helps me.
