Is there something similar to the fluxbox' slit on other desktop managers? I know there is something but i don't what it is and how it works. It looks like a set of applets that show PC's stats. Can you help me with that please?

 

look for instance on the left top side of this screen:

 

image removed and readded as attachment by ianw1974 because it was too large to display. Best to add as smaller image if posting link, or small picture with link to larger picture.

I'm not convinced that's the slit you're looking at - I think it is gdesklets.

 

All the slit does is provide a place for certain apps (usually small ones!) to be docked. These may be system admin/reporting apps - or games, or application launchers or anything really...

in that screenshot it's superkaramba most likely. there's a whole host of ways of doing it, but in KDE most people use superkaramba and in GNOME they use gdesklets.
