Remove installed kernel?

I use the GUI method because you can SEE what is installed and delete what you want without making a mistake.

Go into MCC----------> Package Management-------------> Look at installed software and uninstall software packages.

Scroll through and see the kernel packages installed and select to delete the one /ones you no longer require. If by accident you try to delete the currently used kernel, it will stop you and tell you. When you have uninstalled the unwanted kernels, you will notice that the one you are currently using is no longer shown. This is because you cannot uninstall it anymore because there is no longer an alternative kernel. Your kernel-source will still be shown however.

After I complete a Mandriva install, since I use Grub as the bootloader, I uninstall lilo. Again after it is deleted, grub is no longer shown in the list of installed packages so it cannot be accidently deleted.

Again, you can see all this. If you use the command line, you are working by feel. Just one or two incorrect key presses and you can be up to your neck in trouble. In a car with auto you can cruise and enjoy the ride. With a manual, just one little mistake and you've got a stripped gearbox or worse, a wrecked engine. Same here with Mandriva, just select your brand of Auto Transmission, either KDE or Gnome or some of the other models available.
