sofasurfer
Whats the most popular internet telephone software. I think the proper terminology is VOIP. I need one that works with phone line as I am still living in the 20th century. Also interested in call management program whether its with the phone or stand alone. I'll try all suggestions. Thanks...

devries
Most providers use SIP. Yo can take an account for example by Sipgate and use aclient like Twinkle. http://www.sipgate.com/ http://www.twinklephone.com/ For call management there is Asterisk http://www.asterisk.org/
Pwnious
Thats interesting, does it act like a telephone? As in do you have to call?
aioshin
VOIP - Voice Over Internet Protocol.... I does acts like a phone, since the same process like that on the telephone, you lift the handset..dial the number, the dialed number will ring, so as VOIP, if no prefixes has been used, you open your soft phone, put on your headset (if you dont have something like USB phone or [ata] Analog telephone adapter) dial the IP address of the one you'd like to call then .... . on skype and yahoo, you dont have to dial their IP, but its usersname, it has the call option
