EHCanadian
I've got this laptop an Intell 233mhz with 80mb of memory & a 2.1 GB Hard Drive, now when I do text install I get a sync error and if I do linux I get a memory error and if I do a vglo i get a 50/50 error about sync and a kernel panic about not finishing. Now I was wondering if I could limit the amount of memory during the install of Mandrake 2006 i586
devries
I don't think Mandriva will run on 80MB so you need to install extra memory, not limit it.
ianw1974
Either that or use Mandrake 10.1 Official instead, you might have more luck with this with the lack of memory. The way to limit during install is to give the command mem=xxxM. Example. linux mem=128M (for 128MB)
EHCanadian
it seems to be something with the acpi maybe bug or something so I did some google'n and started the setup with vgalo noapic nolapic acpi=off and it seems to be installing @ a fair rate and not geting and errors Edited February 16, 2006 by EHCanadian
Dustpuppy
I don't think Mandriva will run on 80MB so you need to install extra memory, not limit it. I installed 10.1 with 64MB once. It installed fine but it's usability wasn't the best even under IceWM: everything loaded... so... slowly that I gave up and added another 128MB. ianw1974
Disable any services you don't need after installation, that will help a bit too. Easily done from the command line.
