ffi
For some reasom Open Office seems to be installed in catalan ( ???? I believe) anyway how can I set the language to english? (ie. the language used for all the menus etc.) I don´t understand catalan and am having a hard time going through the options. Mandriva 2006.0 /OO 1.1.
ianw1974
On my system I have the following components installed (had to go into the Remove Software app in the gui to find them). OpenOffice.org-1.1.5-2.2.20060mdk OpenOffice.org-help-en-1.1.5-2mdk OpenOffice.org-l10-en.1.1.5-2.2.20060mdk OpenOffice.org-libs-1.1.5-2.2.20060mdk I think you need the OpenOffice.org-l10-en entry for english, so make sure you have the "en" one installed, and if you have the catalan one and don't want it, then you can deselect and remove it later after installing the english one first. scarecrow
Open OOo and then tools/options/language settings/languages/user interface ( OpenOffice.org-l10-en should be installed before going there ). Program restart required. This also applies for OOo 2.0.1, which is ages ahead of 1.1.5.

As I only understand catalan poorly I don´t know where to find these options of course ;) To install OO 2.01 can I just install the packages and will it automatically uninstall OO 1.1.5? spinynorman
As I only understand catalan poorly I don´t know where to find these options of course ;) As a first step, you need to take a Catalan course. Let us know how you get on... :D
ianw1974
If you type this: urpmi OpenOffice.org-l10-en.1.1.5-2.2.20060mdk it'll install the English language, then you can look at finding tools options. and then the language settings as scarecrow mentioned. If you're unsure of words, maybe there's an online translator to check them for when you're switching back. If you can't find the menu option, go into remove programs, and remove the catalan language support, as you now have the english one installed, then openoffice should default to english once it's removed, thus saving you to have to click through catalan menus trying to find the option.
