gccw
RealVNC needs libstdc++2.10 installed, but everytime I try to install libstdc the computer just sits there and doesn't get past "package installation". What is wrong?
daniewicz
How are you installing? You should have an rpm file. Is this what you are using?
gccw
When installing RealVNC it says these need to be installed..., I click OK and then it just sits there. Then I tried using the software manager to install the libstdc package, and it started to install and then just sat there. Unfortunately I am just getting started with linux (trying to move up in the world from Micro$oft) so I am not familiar with how things are supposed to work. How are you installing? dexter11
Try urpmi libstdc++ as root from the console. Post error messages if that doesn't work.
gccw
Pardon my ignorance - what is urmpi and where do I get it from?
daniewicz
From the board FAQ's https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=10600
gccw
When I type urmpi I get a command not recognised message??? Edited December 31, 2005 by gccw
daniewicz
You must run the command as root, and not a regular user. From the console, type su Then type the password for the root account. Then type the urpmi command
gccw
Done that. Definately get a "command not known" every time. Sorry to be a pain!
arctic
Try again: Open a terminal (black monitor), type su hit Enter, now enter the root-password and hit Enter and type urpmi --update for updating your database. Hit Enter and type urpmi libstdc++ and hit Enter. I hope that you don't get a "unknown command" result now but that the install procedure starts. Guest johnevans
I get "command not found" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try "rpm -q urpmi". If you get "package urpmi is not installed", you should install it from your installation CDs. Otherwise, it should be in /usr/sbin, which should be in the root user's path.
