icedragn
Ya, what gives!? this is a fresh install and all i have done is: 1. install nvidia drivers 2. install java 3. install cedega 4. tried to play supertux :( (FAILED) it just starts loading then goes to change the resolution and what not, but then ends up back at the desktop, ALL the other games work except supertux.. :( [moved from Software by spinynorman]
jaraeez
Hi do you get a splash screen before X starts? good.. have you tried running glxgears from the command line & all was well? good.. I would start supertux from the CLI & then see if any errors are reported.. HTH
aRTee
Did you try as another user? Create one if you have to, and give it a try. To debug, it helps if you start the problematic program from the command line...
icedragn
nvidia splashes, yes glxgears works and reports 10K+, yes will try from "CLI", console? kk
icedragn
here is what the console says: Datadir: /usr/share/games/supertux Warning: Unable to open the file "/home/neil/.supertux/config" for read!!! Warning: No joysticks are available. Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)
icedragn
HMM, apparently my post was moved lol.. god im tired, anyways like 3 threads below is another supertux thread, however it DOES NOT fix my problem... i made that config file and now it can read it but still crashes: Datadir: /usr/share/games/supertux Warning: No joysticks are available. Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)
icedragn
well i fixed the problem, turns out this is a sound error, but in any case i modified the config file so that sound/music = #f for false and supertux now runs, so i went to options and re-enabled the sound/music (in game) and it works fine, so i closed it, re-ran it... works fine... sooo weird, all i really did was manually modify the config to disable sound, then enable it from the game menu... :S well w/e, i won't argue with results... go supertux!! :D
