Also, do I need to uninstall OpenOffice.org before installing the Mandriva version of OOo 2.0??

Likely yes- but since you will get warned about removing your old version, why don't you add the contrib repo via easyurpmi and give it a try?

If you have a rather new machine, which can tolerate the rather heavy load OOo2 pushes to the system, there is no way to come back to OOo 1.1.X- the new version is THAT superior...

I actually installed OOo2 (the tarball edition)

I'm having problems with that. Downloaded OOo_2.0.0_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz, untarred it and it created a directory called: OOO680_m3_native_packed-2_en-US.8968

Now in console when I cd to RPMS and type rpm -Uvh *rpm it gives me the following dependencies errors:

[root@localhost RPMS]# rpm -Uvh *rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
       openoffice.org-core03 is needed by openoffice.org-core01-2.0.0-3.i586
       openoffice.org-core04 is needed by openoffice.org-core01-2.0.0-3.i586
       openoffice.org-core05 is needed by openoffice.org-core01-2.0.0-3.i586
       openoffice.org-core06 is needed by openoffice.org-core01-2.0.0-3.i586
       openoffice.org-core07 is needed by openoffice.org-core01-2.0.0-3.i586
       openoffice.org-core08 is needed by openoffice.org-core01-2.0.0-3.i586

How do I fix the dependency issue? Thanks.

@ dianat

you can install rpms with the nodeps option (then it will install without watching for dependencies on other rpms

@ arctic

if you are looking for a german version with everything (and more) included you can download an iso from:
