Firstly, if they fix it now, you won't have the hassle next time around, and secondly if they fix it their software improves - which furthers Mandriva and Linux in general. So hop on over to qa.mandriva.com and just mention that lirc serial works with mm-kernel, but not with the stock kernel - with the same config files and setup.
