twelvegates
When I try sending a mail message via the smarthost there are ipv6 name requests sent out which won't be answered. This results in a long delay when sending mail. When I hardcode the ip address of smarthost into /etc/hosts mail is send out much faster. Is there a means to restrict name resolution to ipv4 only without making entries in /etc/hosts?
ianw1974
You could disable IPV6 if you like, which may help resolve this. Edit /etc/modprobe.conf and add this line: alias net-pf-10 off hope that helps!

So it shouldn't issue IPV6 requests, should it?
ianw1974
Hmmm, not sure, I thought that might do the trick.
