Mandriva finishes initialization [solved]

Hi, I've searched this forum and found a similar problem but not the same.

I am having trouble with Mandriva Limited Edition 2005.

When i insert disk, a screen comes up and says " Press F1 for options" and "press enter to install"

If i press enter a loading screen will come up, but after about 2 minutes a box comes up on screen with an OK saying

"FATAL ERROR

Fatal Error finishing initialization"

If, at the start, I press F1 and type in " vgalo" this happens:

it says loading into memory. Sometimes almost straight away it comes up with Fatal error. and other times the loading bar will be almost complete and then it will come up with fatal error.

I have tried in text mode same thing. I have tried disabling Plug n play OS, and disabled Legacy USB support but it made no difference.

I have also used live cd's Knoppix and Freebsd with no problems.

when i press F4 it has this:

<4> hdc: media error (bad sector): status = 0x51 (drive ready seek complete error)

<4> hdc: media error (bad sector): error 0x30 (LastFailedSense = 0x03)

<4> ide: Failed opcode was: unknown

<4> end_request: I/O error, dev hdc, sector 1254856

<3> Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 313714

<6> bootsplash: status on console 0 changed to on

if i press F3 it has this:

Found Mandrake linux CD ROM good news!

Total Memory: 512 MBytes

mount_clp_may_preload: /sysroot/tmp/image/install/stage2//mdkinst.clp into/ sysroot/tmp/stage2 (preload=1)

short write (bad address)

Third party: using modules location /sysroot/tmp image

fopen (stage1.C:337) failed no such file or directory

unsetting automatic

exiting bootsplash

My PC is AMD64 Athlon 3200+ 2.0ghz Processor, 160 gig 140Free, 512mb RAM.

Someon told me to try 64 version but it will take me about a year to download and i just forked out $24.95 for this one, Can someone help me please? Thanks!!

Itlooks like that your cdrom device is your secondary master (hdc) and that either you have a bad burn or a bad disk. So, reburn for a new disk and try again.

As Ix says, you got some media probs there. Burn at the slowest possible speed, but first, it would be best to do an MD5SUM check on the ISO image to make sure it's OK.

Otherwise, if not, you'll need to download again.

Thanks guy's for your help!

I burnt it again but accidently at high speed, But it worked anyway and now i have mandriva up and running without any other problems as yet!

Also i typed in: linux noapic nolapic acpi=off ide=nodma ( i saw that in a post that was a similar problem as mine)

and the combination of all that worked fine

Thanks again!
