Reiver_Fluffi
Thought I remind you guys that are still using 10.0, but if the following page is anything to go by, this version will no longer be supported after Friday of this week (i.e. 30 Sep). http://www.mandriva.com/security/productlifetime

JonEberger
i've been impressed with the speed of 2005. but man i really enjoyed 10.1 and 10.0. those were some good distro versions. the worst part of 2005 is that weird stone-looking penguin before you disable the graphical boot. polemicz
2005 has been a very solid system, much more so (for me) than 10 and 10.1. I've been using Mandrake since 8.0 and 2005 has been the best. I'm now doing 2006 on a cuple of systems and so far it is the fastest. ianw1974
I'll wait until 2006, I'll give 2005 a miss, since 2006 is due out shortly.
DragonMage
There is one advantage that Mandrake 10.0 has over 10.1 and 2005LE. Intel 536EP winmodem support. I have yet to compile the Intel winmodem driver successfully on Mandriva newer than Mandrake 10.0. Not even the newest driver from Intel. theYinYeti
I don't know the specifics for this winmodem, but as far as I know, after installing any distribution, you can install whatever kernel you want on top of it, as long as it stays in the same branch. You could replace 2.6.12 with 2.6.0 for example. Yves.
gmac
Curses`I was about to try again the powerpack version 9 that I still have. Didn't work before due I think to failed hardware, and i didn't want to play around with my only working computer since I need it for work. Tried SUSE, installed by an "expert" don't like. Got a magazine copy of mandriva that went on like a dream unlike my previous experiences with mandrake. Since my windows 98se software has just died and it's actually cheaper to buy a new tower I think I'll try mandriva on what is now my the old one, seems to be a lot more numpty friendlythan it used to be.
