This is an old thread, but I found it because I needed this information today...

I wanted to add that I installed mdbtools and also got the libreadline dependency error, but since Mandrake 9 installs a newer version of libreadline than is required by mdbtools, I decided to install the rpm with the --nodeps argument. It worked fine.

Not always a solution, but in this case it is.

LinuxWorld has a new article on how to make MySQL work with Open Office:

Trail of tears: MySQL, ODBC & OpenOffice 1.0

http://www.linuxworld.com/2003/0207.barr.html

EDIT: I seem to run into dependency conflict with MySQL-share-*.*.rpm....

It seems Mandrake does not have such package in their cooker/contribs repository, could someone voice the need for such package in the Mandrake Club or Cooker mailing list?

I setup MySQL, ODBC & OpenOffice 1.0 on mandrake 8.2 ages ago, the share rpm was a problem to i think i found it in cooker at the time, but that was 8.2 not 9.0
