Guest wlz Posted September 17, 2005 Report Share Posted September 17, 2005 hi, everyone, i'm new to here, I use mandrake 10.1 yesterday, i do not know what is the reason, maybe did not shutdown my computer normally when i restart the computer, it can not start the graphical user interface and only give me a command line interface to login. i can not start xinit the error information when strating is: /etc/rc5.d/S75keytable: line 39 no such device or address can anyone help me , thanks a lot Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

devries Posted September 20, 2005 Report Share Posted September 20, 2005 Can you post the relevant (mouse) section of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf? Make sure the device the mouse is pointing to exists. Look in /dev/input/ to see what mice/mouse device there are and edit the xorg.conf to the corect one (ie. change /dev/mouse to /dev/input/mouseX) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest wlz Posted September 20, 2005 Report Share Posted September 20, 2005 following your advice now i can start kde with mouse really thanks however; i can not boot up with kde instead of typing command startx startkde it always comlains can not find tty0......... faile to load module /usr/x11/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a* once only module in fact, every time when I start up the machine, it creat new file /dev/input/mouse* and /dev/tty* a bit greedy? :) anyway; it is rather good for me restore my system now Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dexter11 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Share Posted September 22, 2005 faile to load module /usr/x11/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you install the ATI driver? If yes then (I think, I'm not an ATI user) you should add a line to /etc/modprobe.preload to tell the system to load that module at boot.
