jboy
My mistake. Yes I do have a sshd_config and I changed PAM authentication to no with the same results. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If UsePAM had previously been YES then it's quite possible that PasswordAuthentication was set to NO. That pairing goes together. If UsePAM is now NO, is PasswordAuthentication now set to YES? These settings go together. And of course do an sshd restart after editing. jboy
Well, have you tried public key authentication? http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/an...rticle&artid=79 This way you authenticate by use of a key rather than a password. I've used it and it works nicely, but just on my local network though. theYenYeti is now setting it up on his machine: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=27929 Edited September 2, 2005 by jboy

mystified
Well I never did anything else with this but we had a power outage and when my box rebooted I had a new internal ip. So I logged into my router, changed my ip and ssh started working. Go figure.
