Mic does not work under skype [solved]

Hi everyone,

I recently installed Skype under Mandriva LE2005, and the mic is not working. I can hear everything but non of what I speak is heard by the other person. When I call echo123 to test, the message I try to record does not work at all.

When I speak through the mic my voice goes out the speakers.

Can anyone tell me which are the settings for the mic to work???.

Could it be that the mic is not supported???

All kind of help will be truly appreciated.

Regards,

:help::help::help:

If you're using ALSA, open up alsamixer as kmix or the gnome default mixer (depending on which DE you're using) will not show you all the settings.

Select record on Mic (just in case), make sure it isn't muted and push up the volume.

Where can I do all those settings? I am a Newbie so I would really appreciate if you could include more details. I installed the aumix, but I cannot configure the mic to record.

I can understand the idea but don't know how to take it to the practice.

Just look in your systray :). It's the icon that looks like a small speaker. Just click it and play some with your settings. To test if the configuration works open an audiorecorder (start, multimedia, sound, recorder) and try record something. If it works Skype will work.

Problem solved!!!!! :banana::banana:

After rading your answers I kept on reading and realized I was under Open Sound System. So I did not have many options on Kmix. I changed to ALSA and Kmix offered me a lot more options. There I could do what you told me to.

Now I can hear my voice on the speakers and the person I am Skyping with can hear me also.

Thank you very much for your help :thanks::thanks:
