Lando Posted July 15, 2005 Report Share Posted July 15, 2005 I've installed mplayer ...and it works if I choose it through the file menu entry "Open with " . In the file menu' there is a Totem media player entry that I do not want to use... What have I to set so that mplayer can open a video file with a simple double clic on it ? Thanks a lot ! You can then set an application to be opened for a file type. I don't know the Gnome stuff, but there's a similar way of setting associations. I don't know the Gnome stuff, but there's a similar way of setting associations. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've KDE and the setting works for .mpg because is already in the file list .But if I want to add .wmv though the operation proceed ok ...this (and other ...) extension is not added in the list !!! ( Totem Movie Player tries to open this extension but it's not able because a codec is missing....and mplayer open this file using the file menu "open with" entry....) File Association > Known Type > video > Add > .wmv The right way it is that below ....
