Germ
I use KDE when I boot to GUI and have been playing with the graphical GDM as display manager because of the themes. Every time I login using GDM something related to the soundserver crashes and gives me a 796MB core dump. I've poked around in some of the config files and nothing jumps out at me. I know little of Gnome and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Here's the first part of the dump file: ELF ! stereoeffect list - list available effects suspend - suspend sound server status - display sound server status information terminate - terminate sound server autosuspend - set autosuspend time networkbuffers - increase network buffers by a factor of volume [] - display/set the volume of the soundserver stereoeffect insert [top|bottom] - insert stereo effect stereoefect remove - remove stereo effect stereoeffect list - list available effects version - show sound server version help, ? - show commands Hopefully someone knows a fix for this. Thanks, Germ

Germ
Thanks for the reply. It didn't work. I'm still getting a dump with the same information. Germ
