devries
Digital audio to an external amplifier goes as follows: Asus uses the Via82xx AC97 integrated sound chip. Alsa (driver: via82xx) supports digital audio out. To get sound all you have to do is adjust the 'IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA' to position '3' (see screenshot below). The meaning of the 4 positions are: 0. PCM11. PCM2,PCM1 (rear) 2. Centre and LFE 3. PCM3,Modem,Dedicated S/PDIF (link) Tip: There are no shops selling cheap toslink cables in Amsterdam. Use the internet instead. You can get a 10m cable for E8,- (+3 for shipping) on the net. The cheapest I could find in Amsterdam would have cost me E30,-.
