scarecrow
Is DMA enabled? What is the output of the command (as root) hdparm -b /dev/hd* as well as hdparm -d /dev/hd* ...where * is corresponding to your IDE CD-writer device? DragonMage
Could it be the media itself? Some blank CDs are made better than others.

scarecrow
Does it also happen when you burn as root?

scarecrow
In that case, I would follow the usual hardware remedies: Put the burner as master (if possible with no slave drive), put the jumper at the master position (not cable select) and use old, conventional 40-wire ribbon, and not 80-wire UDMA3+ one.
