Fonts looked much better and it looks like it will sport a more modern curved theme. Looks like Mandrake will be updating their Icon's too. DragonMage Posted January 22, 2003 Report Share Posted January 22, 2003 Hmm.. my 9.0 with Texstar's KDE 3.1 RC6 looks just like that if I use keramik and the crystal icon theme. Guest ndeb Posted January 23, 2003 Report Share Posted January 23, 2003 Actually, even with the old Xft 1.x (that comes with mdk-9.0), I got nice anti-aliased fonts. Its just that the freetype2 that comes with mandrake-9.0 is somewhat old (2.0.9) and probably has font-hinting disabled (due to Apple patents). The texstar version uses a much improved freetype2 library (2.1.3) and probably has font-hinting enabled as well. Hence the better fonts.
