(yet another) ACPI problem (SOLVED)

Hello, im taking my first shot at linux, and i installed mandrake 10.1 on my compaq Evo N115 laptop.

Everything (except the modem) seemed to worked fine right away, however i noticed i have no ACPI, so i went to MCC and in the loader form, i enabled ACPI, when i restared, it just frozed, after reading A LOT , ibe restored my old lilo.conf file and again i went to MCC and enabled ACPI, but this time i also enabled both force no APIC and force no local APIC. when i restarted i got this:

checking if this processor honours the WP bit even in supervisor mode... Ok

calibrating delay loop... _

and thats it. it just froze there.

The interesting part is, that if i restart the computer, and select the older kernel option from the lilo menu (2427-0Pre21) THEN THE COMPUTER STARTS AND ACPI WORKS JUST FINE!

but somethings fail to load, something called udev (it sais it needs 2.6x kernel), and my network adapter also fails to initialize, plus theres no audio, and no support for my external optical mouse.

i really dont wanna go back to windoze, please help me out, just remember im a total newby to linux.

Thanks!

UPDATE:

i just upgraded my kernel to 2.6.8.1-24mdk, and now everything works fine!

i just need to get my modem working now and im all done.
