Guest Peo
I found this on Slashdot, quite interesting point of view on Mandrake present and possible future: http://ben.reser.org/rants/invisible.cgi?m...&year=2003&t=

Counterspy
I was under the impression that the Mandrake community was moving on. It is certainly doing that here and will continue regardless of the outcome for Mandrakesoft. Counterspy

Guest JaseP
You know, I don't understand the call to abandon Mandrake because of a bump in the road. The new pres. was hired to shake up the works... this accomplishes that. Let's take a wait and see attitude before jumping ship. Besides, the last thing I would want to do is use Debian or Slackware,... it's tough enough getting nVidia drivers for the major distros, let alone having to build every driver, and/or recompile a kernel if driver modules aren't supported by the distro... If I had to, I'd probably switch to SuSE. At least they implement a clean KDE and have a nice install app (YAST 2).
DragonMage
Hmm.. slackware is not that hard.. not as easy to use as mandrake, but not that hard at all. Anyway, that call is not to abandon mandrake. It's actually the call for the community to create a Mandrake Non Profit organization in order to support the distro if mandrakesoft really goes under. I think it's a good one.. Kinda like the preparation for this board move from the club-nihil just in case. And in this board's case, the move is justified since last time I checked, club-nihil is dead / or on life support.
