neddie
Hi, I've been using the 855resolution patch with Mdk10.1, and calling the program with a line in /etc/rc.d/rc.local - this patches the BIOS so that the native 1400x1050 resolution works. Everything was fine. Then I upgraded to Mdk10.2, and it seems that even when I replace the command in the rc.local file, it gets called too late, that is once X has already started. It does get called, but the resolution only works right if I log in and then do a Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to kill X and restart it. Is there any way to call the 855resolution program earlier, before X starts? Or alternatively how can I specify a text-only log-in screen so that X gets started later? Thanks for the help! neddie
Update: solved! - I put the call in rc.sysinit instead of rc.local (stumbled across this accidentally while searching for something else!) I guess I should have asked a less specific question, "how do I call _anything_ before X" rather than mentioning 855resolution!!
