Guest HockeyEngineer
I'm trying to mount my iPod photo in Mandrake 10.1, but when I mount, I get the following error: mount: /dev/sda2: can't read superblock I know Mandrake knows the iPod's connected, from the following tests: cdrecord --scanbus scsibus1: 1,0,0 100) 'Apple ' 'iPod ' '1.62' Removable Disk 1,1,0 101) * 1,2,0 102) * 1,3,0 103) * 1,4,0 104) * 1,5,0 105) * 1,6,0 106) * 1,7,0 107) * lsusb Bus 003 Device 004: ID 05ac:1204 Apple Computer, Inc. I've already added the following line to /etc/fstab : /dev/sda2 /mnt/ipod vfat defaults,uid=500,gid=500,user,noauto 0 0 Do any of you know what's wrong? Edit: Forgot to mention that it is a "Windows" (vfat) iPod. Edited April 25, 2005 by HockeyEngineer
devries
vfat http://people.csail.mit.edu/people/adonovan/hacks/ipod.html Mac or later models use a different file system.
SoulSe
Yup - try adding HSF+ as filesystem (it is supported by 2.6 kernels if they have the module compiled in, not sure if that goes for Mandrake).
Guest HockeyEngineer
That didn't work for me, and neither did the instructions at http://members.iinet.net.au/~bsisko/iPodandLinux.html ... it still says "can't read superblock", even though I managed to put 5 gigs of music on it with Windows before I switched to Linux. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
