scarecrow
Do you have another connection, eg eth0 running? Try stopping it ( ifdown eth0 ) before you dial.
SuperDoyle
yes. i done ifconfig down on eth0 & eth1 and i just downloaded wvdialer and it does the same thing. heres what i got from wvdialer. it just keeps redialing over and over --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.54.0 --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 OK --> Modem initialized. --> Sending: ATDT7244300797 --> Waiting for carrier. ATDT7244300797 CONNECT 460800 --> Carrier detected. Waiting for prompt. --> Connected, but carrier signal lost! Retrying... --> Sending: ATDT7244300797 --> Waiting for carrier. NO CARRIER --> No Carrier! Trying again. Edited April 20, 2005 by SuperDoyle
scarecrow
Uncheck "detect dial tone" and try again... preferrably with eth0/1 being down. Also, limit the connection speed to 57600 or lower (460800 is way too optimistic for plain dialup!).
