thac
there is a problem with ksysguard in10.1 but it should not be any problem with 10.2 version anyway we are building a new version again that should fix some bugs wait until we rlease that version. Guest sfeam
Problem/status report: I installed the 13Apr set of KDE 3.4 rpms onto a 10.1 system. I've been using it for a week now, and have the following to report. Minor glitches: - urpmi did not notice a dependence on the sasl plugins, so kmail was nonfunctional until I manually installed them. - there seems to be some base set of colors that are not taken from any preference menu I can find. Various windows come up with a sort of aqua (greenish-blue) color scheme that I have never seen before and can't figure out how to reset. Annoyance level: - kdm is flaky. About 50% of the time it presents a screen with no keyboard focus. So you can't log in, and you can't use the normal x11 hotkeys to bail to a console window. Work-around: reset via remote login, and use mdkkdm instead. - The KDE logout applet fails to properly shut down the machine. Work-around: logout to display manager and shutdown from there Real problems: - after days of fighting with it, I still cannot get any of the menu editors to actually add items to my desktop menus. I have manually copied working *.desktop files to every plausible system and private subdirectory (~/.kde ~/.local) I can find, but none of them show up on my desktop menus. - Possibly related to the above, when I add a filetype association using the KDE Components menu, it works for one use or session but disappears entirely if I exit and re-enter KDE. I have not yet managed to create new permanent mimetype/file_extension/application associations.
thac
The latest le2005 version has alot of patch fixes made by José Melo that should fox most of theese bugs. I will add the last rpms for this build in about 1 hour. And this version will be avilable for 10.1 as soon as Tapter has rebuilt them for 10.1. Guest dpy
Hi guys, thanks for all the work you have done. I have one question though: the Xorg packages, are those compiled with energy saving support turned on ? xset dpms force off will not turn off the backlight of my TFT panel. The official mandrake version does turn off the backlight (ofcourse that version will not allow KDE 3.4). Manually turning the display off with echo 0 > /proc/acpi/asus/lcd works, so the kernel supports it. It must be some missing option in the xorg packages I think. I hope this small reports helps in making the packages even better. grts, Marcel
devries
Installed kde 3.4 on Mandriva 2005 LE with no problems but I'm having problems with the menus and 'no text!'. And I can't install libkdecore4-devel-3.4.0-22.mdk10.2.thac because of dependencies (I have packages installed that are newer than packages that need to be installed with libkdecore4-devel-3.4.0-22.mdk10.2.thac). thac
I noticed thge mDNSresponer bug yesterday when i made a fresh install. i did sens the spec for mDNSrespone to the official mandriva maintainer so it should be included in mandriva. but he changed the spec making it incompatible with kde-3.4.0 i fixed it again new version on my site. Havin_it
Apart from the other issues encountered, I have lost sound with ALSA 1.0.6a. Does anyone know how to fix this, or if there's a way to roll back to the earlier ALSA? This is really annoying
devries
Better start a new topic for your alsa problem :)
Havin_it
I did - nobody replied :( This was at the time of the first round of 3.4 RPMs, I posted in this thread about it too but nobody answered that either :( I thought this was the place to report issues with these RPMs? thac
since you have alsa-1.0.6 i think you are running 10.1 ai have the new alsa-1.0.8 for 10.1 available at my site did you try to update?
Havin_it
Haven't been in Linux for about a week (had piles of work to do on Windows) but will go try immediate! Thanks for the tip, thac. Hope that sorts it.
devries
I installed the latest kde 3.4 for Mandriva 2005 LE and everything works and looks fine (no messed up menus, ksysguard works etcetc). :D. Thanks guys.
