Guest ccbunney
Hi, I have 10.1 installed on my desktop and it works great. However, I recently installed it on my new Acer 4101 laptop and it always hangs at boot time....seemingly always at the point where it says 'Entering non-interactive setup' I so far have not managed to get the system to boot once, I have read it might be something to do with ACPI (and APIC - whats that?) so I press escape at LILO and try to boot with: linux noapic nolapic noapci apci=off but to no avail.... dont know what else to try - can anyone suggest anything? Thanks! Chris. Edited March 14, 2005 by ccbunney
Guest Stark
I have a Toshiba Satellite M35X-S311 and I have the same issue, but if I wait about 1 minute or so it will finish the boot process. I just upgraded to Mandrake 10.1 from 10.0 and in 10.0 this did not happen.
Guest ccbunney
Hi Stark, I tihnk I fixed that problem - I downloaded the 2.6.8.1-24mdk kernel and now it boots fine. I think it may have been something to do with the firewire module that was causing the problem. Chris.
Guest Stark
Interesting.. I will try that. Odd thing is that it doesn't hang in the same place every time. Sometimes it will hang at "Entering non-interactive setup" and sometimes it will hang at "Loading PCMCIA".
