What Version Installed?

Recommended Posts

I've searched google, this forum, and several others I haunt. However, how can I tell what version of Linux I've installed without rebooting? Or, if the splash screen 'lies'..

Situation.. Need to resetup my Media using EZ Urpmi.. It asks for the version.. I've cusomized my splash and can't remember if it is 10.0, 10.1, Community? Official?

Is there a BASH command? I know uname -a, however it does not say ther version..

uname -a

Linux localhost 2.6.8.1-10mdk #1 Wed Sep 8 17:00:52 CEST 2004 i686 Celeron (Mendocino) unknown GNU/Linux

This is what I get... Kernel info and such, 'unknown' version tho....

Thanks upfront,

LinuxMWB

$ cat /etc/redhat-release

(Yeah, it's not Redhat, but like almost all Redhat-descended distros it retains redhat-version for this purpose.)
