Guest usmcgyg
A quick question from a linux neophyte. My Mandrake 10.1 installation has really crappy web fonts. I can adjust the size on a page to page basis but the fonts are always not proportional or "sharp" when first go to most web pages. In contrast, I have found the fonts in FC 3 to be clear and automatically proportionalize from page to page. What can I do because I much prefer mandrake to FC. devries
Install more fonts (they are in plf. Read the faqs for urpmi). It's likely the fonts the webpage uses are not available on your install so it replaces them with others (that don't look so good). Font tip: use ani-aliasing and if you have a TFT screen sub-pixel hinting.

foot
There was a post on here about replacing the version of freetype with a non plf version - can't find it now, but it solved the problem of scaggy looking fonts..now if someone could remember where it went.. bvc
http://bvc.kernow-webhosting.com/docs/fonts.conf.txt put that in your home dir and rename it .fonts.conf I d/k what that does with kde, but since it' a user config file all yo have to do is delete it if you do not like the result.....if there is any. Guest usmcgyg
Thanx to everyone for their responses. I tweaked a number of things but the biggest change came when I installed both webfont packages. Thanx again.
mikeee
One more thing, I had a similar problem and installed the MS ttf core font package, which you can get here. I wasn't able to find an .rpm, so you'll probably have to install from source. After installing make sure you add the fonts with the font installer :) -Mike
