Here's a few links that may help you solve your problem

1. Printer http://www.linuxprinting.org

2. Scanner http://www.sane-project.org

3. Motherboard, should be supported with possible exception of SATA Raid (if it is available).

4. Cable modem, possibly not supported since it's USB. Maybe you should get a router to route the modem to ethernet jacks so that linux can use it.

5. Hard drive, supported

6. Video, should be supported, just don't forget to install NVidia driver if you want 3d

7. Monitor, choosing a generic LCD with maximum resolution that your monitor can support during installation should suffice

8. Audio http://www.alsa-project.org

The Thompson cable modem should work with Mandrake 10.1, mine did. At the time, mine used the CDCether module which has been replaced by the cdc-acm module. These are listed as supported:

Thompson/RCA DCM315R, DCM235, DCM245

http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/search_res.php?pattern=modem

The SATA Raid and the onboard sound are supported on my Asus A7V600. Not sure about your model.

As far as the cable modem is, I can switch to ethernet since I do have a plug for that on the back of my modem and I do have integrated nic. The printer is not going to work and is not supported. It is supported by a program called TurboPrint. Will that program get it to work even though its usb? I have a Thompson cable modem (DCM325). I wonder if the other drivers would work for it. The scanner isn't supproted. Only if its scsi interface and I can switch to that because my scanner has dual interface. The audio isn't supported, but I have integrated audio on my motherboard if that makes it easier.

Turboprint should get it working - they work together with manufacturers to get info under non-disclosure-agreements. But it costs.

And the whole problem I have with it is that you already paid for a working printer, now you have to pay again?

With inkjet prices as they are, it's best to go for a new supported printer once the ink cartridges are empty (well, assuming it is an inkjet / bubblejet printer)...

As for the scanner - you may want to give it a try, the sane list is not necessarily complete - your scanner in usb version is not mentioned to be unsupported at least... and the scsi version is supported.... you could still get lucky there.

Welcome to this board,

good luck!
