no, that doesn't say 'nvidia', it says 'nvidia-agp'. Which doesn't exist. The problem was simple, as the X log said - the nvidia kernel module wasn't loaded. either 'modprobe nvidia' as root or adding nvidia to modprobe.preload and rebooting fixes this.

Which brings me to:

Why does the 'blushing' emoticon have little hearts around his head? Why can't we have an embarassed emoticon that is just like, well, blushing....maybe it's just my VD (Valentine's Day) cynicism showing...lol.

add nvidia to mod.preload.  B)

# /etc/modprobe.preload: kernel modules to load at boot time.

#

# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are

# to be loaded at boot time, one per line.  Comments begin with

# a `#', and everything on the line after them are ignored.

# this file is for module-init-tools (kernel 2.5 and above) ONLY

# for old kernel use /etc/modules

raw

cx8800

nvidia-agp

it was/is

Kristi

No in /etc/modprobe.preload should have a line with just

nvidia

The other module is for the AGP driver that nvidia supports. agpgart is also used neither of which has anything to do with the video 3d driver.
