I need a consolidated calendar/address book...

Recommended Posts

So I've got my box at work running Ubuntu - if I don't screw it up and convince the boss I can function on Linux it'll stay that way. :cheesy:

Here's the problemo: My adress book and calendar are vital and importing them into Evolution has been a nightmare (is it just me or has Evolution gotten worse recently? It used to rock and now it sucks, anyway - OT).

I have three systems that need to stay synced (if you will): My Cellphone (Sony Ericsson T610), My iBook (iCal and Address Book) and then my Ubuntu work box (Evolution...).

Is there something like Plaxo that will keep my laptop and work computer's calendars and address books linked and up-to-date? Then all I do is sync my cellphone with either and Bob is our collective uncle. Or something.

Please help me! :help:

And if anyone from Ximian is reading: why did you have to sell out to Novell and let them torch your software? (please don't reply to that, I'm joking and I really don't have time for more flames).

Mozilla Project handles most everything and there software works on the major platforms Linux/Mac/windows.

Between sunbird and thunderbird they might be what you are looking for.

Thanks cybr - sunbird certainly seems to be better than Evolution's built in Calendar and syncing it with iCal on my iBook shouldn't be a problem. I do not want to replace iCal though, as it is far superior to anything else I have seen.

So I guess I could use Thunderbird for email and contacts and Sunbird for calendar events. I was actually looking for an online service like Plaxo, but nothing seems to work very well cross-platform.

Now I need to get my contacts into Thunderbird and it is giving me problems with .vcf cards. :wall:

Don't you hate it when you import an address book and suddenly all your mobile numbers are fax numbers, etc? It's a standard format, so why is everyone messing it up?
