Guest Gabriel Caudillo
im newbie at linux, so, here goes a newbie question: how can i do a freaking "printscreen"?
Steve Scrimpshire
It's not that easy in Linux. In a console, you can do import -window root screenshot.png You need ImageMagick installed. Or from within the Gimp -> File -> Acquire -> Screenshot If you want, you can map your PrintScreen button to the first command. Should be easy to do in KDE Control Center (not sure about Gnome). Use xev (part of X11R6-contrib pkg) to find out what the keycode is for your PrtScr button.
solarian
Yes, it's easy in KDE, just chain your PrintScr button with KSnapshot program

bvc
if you use gnome, let me know and I'll tell ya how....though with gnome sometimes it doen'y work depending on the distro and gnome/pkg versions. Mine currently works in both mandrake/gnome-2.8 and ubuntu/gnome2.9.
