Content Filtering in reverse.

Greetings all,

I need to set up website filtering for the company I am working for. they require that ALL websites are blocked except for a few select sites and the web apps running on the internal server. I have looked into squid/squidguard but have had little success getting it to filter correctly. That and squid seems to want to run a bunch of processes. This method seems really bloated.

So I either want to find another solution or get squid to run with fewer processes and get squidguard to operate properly.

You guys have never let me down before. Thanks in advance!

Heya,

just an idea ... Have eyou tried to do this with iptables (or a front-end to it: shorewall, ...). Block everything outbound and only allow what you need?

I'm not sure if you would like to go through this, but there is also a project/patches to allow level-7-filtering (hope this is correct) using iptables so that you can filter on protocol.

hopes this helps a bit,

Michel
