Guest aebond
Hi, I'm trying to get my 3Com 3CRWE154G72 (OfficeConnect) PCMCIA card to work under Mandrake 10.1. Mandrake is running on a MITAC 7321 laptop. The card has been recognised by harddrake (assigned to eth1) and the relevant module (prism54) installed for it. I have installed the relevant firmware (isl3890) from the prism website and the module does seem to be using it (as shown in the syslog). However, the card does not seem to 'wake up' (both lights are on only dimly indicating power but not awake). In addition, iwconfig claims that eth1 has no wireless extensions while iwspy shows that it does! The system log complains about being unable to perform a soft reset of the card and that the tx buffer is full. Help! Has anyone else managed to get this card working under Mandrake? I have tried all of the firmware versions supplied by prism54.org with no success and am now stuck. All help appreciated Alex Edited January 30, 2005 by aebond
Guest aebond
Hi, I've got it working for those of you interested!! I simply installed the kernel source, then the ndiswrapper source (version 1.0), installed the modules and configured the card through 'iwconfig' (as per the installation instructions on the ndiswrapper sourceforge website). The card now works like a charm! The drivers I'm using are the latest XP ones (apologies for swearing) available off the 3Com website. Note: don't try and use the ndiswrapper that comes with Mandrake 10.1 (version 0.9). It didn't work. Hopes this helps someone else! Cheers Alex PS I'll write a HOW-TO if there's any demand for it, but basically just follow the ndiswrapper installation instructions and you'll be fine.
