have you changed accidently your bootproto from dhcp to static, while your router might ask for dhcp? have you applied any patches/updates? try to ping your router. are any packages transmitted? have your played around with your firewall?

check your ip settings again... all of my routers use 192.168.1.1, not 192.168.0.0 as base ip.

Thanks for the help, artic

I have not changed anything in the settings (at least knowing that I was changing something!). The router is OK, I plugged in the same cable in my laptop running mdk 10.1 and everything is working all right :D . If I ping my IP, it is OK; but I can't ping the rest of my LAN.

I would like to have a mean to check the network hardware but it is integrated in the motherboard (ASUS P4P800) and I don't know how to do that.

I have tried to insert another PCI network card but then I have no display at boot time just at the moment of activation of eth0 (incompatibility ? ).

OK guys, this week-end, I installed mdk 9.2, mdk 10.0, mdk move and still have no network :wall: but the rest of my LAN (XP, mdk10.1) is working all right :cheesy:

I have concluded that it is a hardware problem on the 3Com module on my ASUS motherboard.

I have looked for a tool that could test the network hardware but I couldn't find any...

Thanks for those who helped

Chris
