cenobite
HI ! I get this message: "The program soundserver (artsd) crashed and gave the signal 6 (SIGABRT)", when booting KDE. I think the problem came after some upgrades of my KDE apps and stuff...(URPMI). This is the log: (no debugging symbols found)...Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". It's not a big issue, but it's an error and errors are annoying ! :-) Any ideas ? Best regards Ole
ou_ryperd
I too get exactly the same on Mdv 2006. Anyone ?
ianw1974
Only had this similar problem when upgrading a system rather than a clean install. Not sure what to suggest, except check if you are using alsa for sound and it's configured OK.
ffi
I just disabled it, it kept crashing on me, you can still play audio without it. (you can disable it in the kde control center aka configure your desktop) Edited July 7, 2006 by ffi
scarecrow
Nah, I used to have (f)arts crashing all the time. But since KDE 3.5.0 on my Arch Linux it hasn't crashed once, which is rather annoying, if you consider that this awfully buggy program is all but abandoned... scarecrow
aRTs needed upgrade before KDE .....Lex Arts isn't upgraded, because it's DEAD. It's just that in some distros (as well as the very latest KDE sources) it's patched properly and working, while in others it is not... The sooner KDE gets rid of Arts, the better.
