Guest bradenm
Open Source and the KDE have taken a big step forward thanks to Apple! They've released a new mac-native browser named Safari. It's main goals are speed and innovation. Here's the best part: It's based on KHTML and KJS, two core KDE HTML libraries. They've made lot's of enhancments to these libraries, and released the source! Safari offers you a superior Web experience with outstanding performance. Even the most complex of pages load at breakneck speed. In fact, Safari loads pages more quickly than any other Mac Web browser. But that's not all. Safari uses the advanced interface technologies underlying Mac OS X to offer you an all-new view of the Web, one that's much easier to use. ... Open source For its Web page rendering engine, Safari draws on software from the Konqueror open source project. Weighing in at less than one tenth the size of another open source renderer, Konqueror helps Safari stay lean and responsive. And of course, being a good open source citizen, Apple shares its enhancements with the Konqueror open source community. Read All About it: Official Apple Safari Site dot.kde.org Article PCLinuxOnline Article LinuxToday Article Email with KHTML changelog Email from Safari Developers Source Code Download I think this is a great step forward, for both Linux (KDE) and Mac users. Kudos to the apple development team!!

ral
Whats interesting is that it is based on Konqueror and not Mozilla. Apple helping with Konqueror development will make the browser market very interesting indeed.
