Display problem when Mandrake 10.1 Bootup

I install Mandrake 10.1 over my previous 9.0. The fonts display were very small and flickered a lot. My monitor gave out a message saying "out of range" - which I think it meant out of sync. However everying seems to be fine when X start.

I do not have this problem when using 9.0. I am using a Flat Panel Monitor.

Thanks

You're right, it uses what is known as the 'framebuffer' to have some graphics at boot.

In some cases the fbdev (framebuffer device) may try to give a signal at too high a frequency, tft panels have a limit at 60Hz, whereas with crt displays that tends to flicker too much, so trying 70 or 75 herz is often better.

I have no clue as to why this doesn't work, but in any case, you could set up your bootloader to pass an argument to not have this problem, so you can read the bootmessages. Don't know which setting though; check in the mcc, bootloader, video options.
