I had a request for a light blue somatic (mac) sorta theme so it's not a port just an 'inspired by' sorta thing.

Soma

here's mac's Somatic

It's meant to be simple but it sure seems plain to me.

If you want to check it out and PM me feedback, please do!

It's not done (and I still need a metacity) and again, there's an issue with text.

Just like with dark themes if you try a light theme with light text some things are screwy. You can easily switch these in the gtkrc to get black text. I prefer the white.

fg[NORMAL] = "#ffffff"

# fg[NORMAL] = "#000000"

i just tested it and it looks quite nice. especially the "flat approach" is a good thing. there are not much problems with it, so far, not even with the text imho. okay, the sliders still need some work (contrast to app is too low) but i know that you will come up with a nice solution, as always. ;)

i actually found a windeco that worked well with this theme. the gorilla metacity fits quite well to this theme. maybe a hack of it would be even nicer (changing the icons for max, min, close in color and thus in contrast a bit)? another possibility would be to change the flat-white milk 2.0 windeco to a blue color. this would also be cool somehow.

the best thing would be to have even more color-versions of this theme. (one in white, one in cream, one in green,...).

thx arctic!

I'm not thrilled with the lack of contrast on the sliders either but I don't want to add another color....really. So I don't know what to do. Somatic has grayish/white sliders and I don't like it.

[EDIT] I added a gripper to the sliders ;)

I can't stand the Gorrila metacity though it could be nmade to look nice.

I agree about diff colors and it'll be very easy to do with these images. When you say 'green' do you mean an olive-ish green like the metacity in http://gnome-look.org/content/preview.php?...3=&name=Gnursid

Oh, and I've fixed many things already so it's more polished and if I can get a metacity....I'll release today. Silly comboboxes and optionmenus are not cooperating.

Color?

-rename a file

-open menu>Run Application

-gftp

-progressbar NORMAL ----text not seen (white on white)

you can't see the text. This is bugs in the code of the apps and gtk though. They should follow the TEXT color not the FOREGROUND color.

yes, something like the metacity green. soft, relatively easy on the eyes, not too much saturation. otherwise it would look like fisher-price. ;)
