Weird, weird problem....

Mandrake 10 and using latest mozilla, konqueror and firefox 1.0.

I'm able to browse many websites; however, there are several (well quite a few) that will refuse to load on any browser I use. Websites such as www.slashdot.org, www.linux.com, www.ebay.com and many others will never load on any of my browsers.

I've removed cache folders; I've removed re-installed firefox on clean directories and nada.

As I said, I can access many many websites (including this one :) ), but I can't get those sites to ever come up.

I wanted to add that If I boot to my Windows computer - this problem doesn't exist. :wall:

Any ideas?

I had the same once. Turned out to be a problem with the ISP. But I doubt that is causing your problem (since windows wrks). Maybe a problem with the nameservers? Look in /etc/resolv.conf and compare it what you have in windows.. Or maybe you use a proxy? Have a look at that.

Good luck.

just guessing, but have you checked the style sheet (CSS) settings of the various browsers?

for Konqueror............ settings->configure konqueror->style sheets. make sure the "use default style sheet" button is checked.

for Moz............... edit->preferences->composer. make sure the "use css styles instead of........" box is checked.

i don't use Firefox, but it's probably similar in that.
