arctic
hmm... if you go to your mandrake control center, hardware section, is your soundcard listed in there?
liberty
Yes, btw i have 2 soundcards, both listed..
x-tech
Do you have an nForce motherboard with onboard sound and network? If so it could be a driver issue. It happened to me when I installed MDK 10.1. There was some sort of conflict with the sound and network. I got the same error msg. I had an extra network card laying around, installed it and overcame the issue. Later, x-tech
liberty
No, i don't have a nForce motherboard.. i do have a nVidia GeForce 4 Video card... but i don't think thats the problem... Like i said before.. i have 2 soundcards.. couldnt that be the problem?
arctic
i am almost sure that the dual-soundcard is causing the trouble. deactivate one of these in harddrake and deactivate harddrake afterwards from the booting-phase and test if you get it running that way. keep us informed on your advances. good luck Edited November 14, 2004 by arctic

arctic
uh... good question... as i am not in front of a mandrake-box currently... i hope one of the other mandrake-users can answer that one.
devries
What music application are you using? What output is selected? Do you use KDE? Look in kmix what module is being used and make sure the audio output of the music app is using the same.
liberty
Cant select any module on Kmix.. im just using some standard Mandrake 10 music apps non of then work.. for the music.. and Kmix is disabled.. in the taskbar.. ther is a red X with it.. devries
That means there is something wrong with your setup. Go to the Mandrake Control Center/hardware/hardware (make sure every sound application is closed, including kmix in the systray)--> Select one of the soundcards--> click configure and choose the correct module (the alsa one). Do the same for the other card. Go to MCC/system/services and make sure alsa is running. If not start it. If you get an error post it here. Start kmix, if it still has the red cross something is still wrong. Go to the MCC and check for error messages. If not a red cross, everything should work. Good luck.
